Paphos Car Rental is the trading name for CH Car Rental Limited.
The key will be delivered to Paphos Airport or your holiday accommodation before your arrival, or at an agreed time and location if you are already in Cyprus.
The named driver(s) are liable for all traffic violations, parking fees, fines and/or penalties, toll fees and/or penalties and any associated administrative costs.
The use of the Vehicle will be covered by the Cyprus Government insurance policy, and all drivers agree that they will not use the vehicle in any way that would be in breach of the rental agreement or render such insurance invalid.
The only drivers permitted to use the Vehicle are those who are named drivers on the booking and have held a full driving licence for at least 3 years.
The named driver(s) are responsible for any charges that relate to any days they may decide to keep the vehicle after the return date specified (as may be extended by prior authorisation of Paphos Car Rental) and if they fail to make a vehicle available at the agreed collection time they will pay an aborted collection fee.
The named driver(s) are responsible for any charges that relate to a replacement key if they lose or damage the vehicle key.
Neither the named drivers nor any passengers may smoke while in the vehicle. The removal of any traces of smoking always involves considerable additional effort, and a charge to pay for the cost of cleaning the vehicle will be made if any passengers or drivers do not comply with this requirement.
Any personal property in the vehicle is there at the drivers and passengers own risk. If any such property is in the vehicle when it is returned, Paphos Car Rental may dispose of it within 3 months if not reclaimed.
It is forbidden to take the Vehicle outside the Republic of Cyprus.
If the vehicle is lost or stolen (or suspected to have been stolen), the main driver will report it to the nearest police station and confirm all the reporting details and the crime reference number to Paphos Car Rental
The rental agreement will include full cover in the event of a collision or accidental damage to the vehicle. The insurance does not cover interior damage. Hirers are responsible for all damage and expenses incurred due to incorrect vehicle use or misfueling. Personal effects are NOT covered. In the event of an accident, the insurance covers any damage to other vehicles and compensation for bodily injury or death of passengers up to €38.6m and property damage up to €1.3m
Damage Waiver Exclusions/Voids:
- Anyone whose name is not on the booking, or an unlicensed driver who drives the vehicle
- Damage caused by the use of the wrong fuel or loss/damage to the vehicle key
- Failure to lock the vehicle
- Failure to stop using the vehicle once a fault becomes known
- Unauthorised repairs on the vehicle
- Interior damage
- Personal injury and personal effects, however, these are normally covered by your travel insurance policy
- The vehicle is loaded with more passengers than their stated capacity
- Drivers are found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Damage to the vehicle has occurred due to negligence or driving in a reckless manner
- The vehicle is driven on an unmade road (off-road) or any road which is unsuitable for vehicles to be driven on
- The car is taken out of the Republic of Cyprus
Renter Requirements:
All drivers must present a fully valid and unexpired driving licence (digital licences are not accepted). If the driving licence is written in a language and characters different from English or Greek, an International Driving Permit is also required. Renters are advised to check whether they require an International Driving Permit to drive in Cyprus to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licences from countries that are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation. All renters must provide a valid passport photo. Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if needed.
Cancellations and Amendments
A £25/€30 deposit is required to book. If the booking is cancelled more than 14 days before the pick-up date, a full refund will be given. If the booking is cancelled within 14 days of the pick-up date or in the event of a "no show" (when a vehicle is not collected at the agreed pick-up date and the booking is not cancelled in advance) we are unable to provide any refund (a cancellation invoice can be supplied for insurance purposes). If the hire duration ends early, or is picked up late, we are unable to provide a refund for any unused hire days. Amendments can only be made by contacting our customer support team at CONTACT US. We do not charge a fee for amending your booking, but the new rental will be calculated on the current website price for the selected dates. Amendments to bookings that are within 14 days of the pick-up date may not be permitted, so please CONTACT US in this situation.
Mileage - all vehicles include unlimited mileage.
Age Restrictions
There is a minimum rental age of 30 years and an upper age limit of 79 years. There is a €500 excess if any named driver is not in this range.
Additional Charges & Liabilities
The main driver will be responsible for the following additional charges or liabilities if incurred:
- Additional rental charges for changes made to the booked rental vehicle, rental period or optional products
- Any fines or penalty charges relating to the operation of the vehicle during the rental period, such as parking or speeding fines, plus a reasonable administration fee. If the driver receives a ticket while they are in Cyprus, payment should be made to the local relevant authorities before leaving the island. Some fixed traffic fines are not set out for 2-3 months after the offence. Unpaid fines can be pursued overseas by Cypriot authorities and may incur further penalties for the delay.
- Rental charges for late returns
- Loss of the vehicle key
- Any legal fees incurred collecting any payments due under the terms of the rental agreement
- A reasonable collection fee if a vehicle is not returned to the agreed collection point
- The cost of cleaning the vehicle if it is returned in an unacceptable dirty condition
Fuel Policy
The vehicle is to be returned with the same amount of fuel as when it was delivered.
In the Event of an Accident
The main driver accepts the following procedure below and accepts that failure to do so may jeopardise the insurance cover:
1. Record the following:
* Date * Time * Location * Witness Details * Third party name * Third party vehicle * Third party registration number * Third party telephone * Third party number of passengers
2. Call us immediately 24/7 on the number in your booking confirmation
3. Ask the third party to call the number in your booking confirmation and provide the accident circumstances
Vehicle Return & Damages
When the vehicle is returned, we recommend that the driver(s) be present until the vehicle is inspected by the Paphos Car Rental. If there is any change in the condition of the rental vehicle which exceeds normal wear and tear and has not been reported to Paphos Car Rental, then this will be recorded on a written post-rental inspection. If the driver(s) are not present for the post-rental inspection, Paphos Car Rental will inspect the vehicle in their absence.
Please note that liability for damage extends until the vehicle is checked in by Paphos Car Rental. Unless otherwise provided in the rental agreement, if the vehicle is returned after the Paphos Car Rental business hours, the booker will remain responsible for any damage or loss in accordance with the rental agreement until the Paphos Car Rental reopens and conducts the post-rental inspection. If the car is in an accident and the driver is partly or fully to blame, there will be no refund or replacement vehicle provided if the car is rendered unusable.
