Terms & Conditions – Paphos Car Rental
1. Scope of Agreement
This Agreement governs your rental of vehicles from Paphos Car Rental, operated by CH Car Rental Ltd. By booking or using our service, you accept these Terms. Any amendments to these terms will be included in the Final Booking Confirmation.
2. Driver Eligibility & Licensing

Only drivers named on the rental agreement may operate the vehicle, and must hold a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years. International Driving Permits may be required for non-EU/UK licenses. You must carry your driving licence and rental contract with you at all times when driving the car.

The standard rental age is between 25 and 75 years. Exceptions may be considered. Drivers under 25 or over 75, if approved, will be subject to a €1,000 insurance excess in the event of an at-fault accident. Any agreed exceptions will be clearly stated in the Final Booking Confirmation.

We reserve the right to refuse a booking if any named driver:
(i) has been refused car insurance coverage in the last 10 years;
(ii) is currently disqualified, or has been disqualified or banned from driving under any legal jurisdiction within the last 10 years;
(iii) has more than 8 penalty points on their licence;
(iii) fails to meet the eligibility requirements set in these terms:If any of the above circumstances apply and were not disclosed on the booking form at the time of reservation, all insurance coverage under this rental agreement shall be void, and the renter shall be fully liable for any loss, damage, expenses, or third-party claims arising during the rental period.
3. Booking, Payment & Deposit

Reservations are confirmed by email. If you fail to collect on time, the reservation may be cancelled.

The full rental fee is payable at the time of booking, unless the vehicle pick-up date is more than 14 days in the future. In such cases, a deposit of €30/£25 is required at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due no later than 14 days before the scheduled pick-up date.
- If the booking is cancelled or in the event of a "no show" (when a vehicle is not collected at the agreed pick-up date), no refunds are given.
4. Insurance & Damage Liability

Vehicles are covered by the Cyprus Hire Risks Pool insurance policy. The insurance compensates for bodily injury or death of passengers up to €38.6m and property damage up to €1.3m. Paphos Car Rental include full cover in the event of a collision or accidental damage to the vehicle, and all drivers agree that they will not use the vehicle in any way that would be in breach of the rental agreement or render such insurance invalid. The insurance does not cover:
- Damage to the vehicle interior not caused in a collision.
- Any damage to the vehicle that was not reported to Paphos Car Rental at the time the incident occurred.

Loss of, theft of, or damage to vehicle keys, including electronic or chip-coded keys and any associated reprogramming or replacement costs.

Damage and expenses incurred due to incorrect vehicle use, as private use only is allowed.

Damage due to negligence, driving recklessly or misfueling.

Personal effects.

Damage while the vehicle is operated on unpaved roads, non-tarmac surfaces, trails, off-road terrain, or in prohibited driving areas or on roads with significant rockfall.

Damage to the engine, transmission, mechanical components, or bodywork caused by improper use, abuse, negligence, or failure to comply with operating instructions.

Driving in northern Cyprus, or if the vehicle is taken out of the Republic of Cyprus.

Use by unauthorised drivers.

Driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
- Damage if the vehicle is loaded with more passengers than its stated capacity.
- Damage caused due to a failure to stop using the vehicle once a fault becomes known.
5. Fuel Policy

The vehicle is to be returned with the same amount of fuel as when it was delivered. Unused fuel is non-refundable; if you return with any fuel remaining, no refund is given.

All vehicles include unlimited mileage.
6. Renter & Third-Party Liability

You are responsible for all traffic fines, parking tickets, and legal penalties incurred during the rental period.

You must comply with road laws and drive responsibly. Improper use, negligence, or illegal activities will void the insurance, and you are liable for all losses.
- Neither the named drivers nor any passengers may smoke while in the vehicle. The removal of any traces of smoking always involves considerable additional effort, and a charge to pay for the cost of cleaning the vehicle will be made if any passengers or drivers do not comply with this requirement.
- The cost of cleaning the vehicle if it is returned in an unacceptable dirty condition.
7. Vehicle Return & Overruns

Return the vehicle at the agreed location, date, and time. Late returns incur additional charges at standard rates. Early returns are non-refundable.
8. Termination Rights

The rental company may terminate the agreement without notice due to serious breaches—such as financial issues, unpaid charges, unsafe driving, criminal use, or damage to the vehicle.

On termination, you must return the vehicle and keys immediately. If you terminate early, no refunds are given.
9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, including applicable European Union regulations.

Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of the Republic of Cyprus.
10. Accident Procedure
- You must notify the police and Paphos Car Rental immediately after any accident, theft or fire.
- You must notify Paphos Car Rental immediately after any damage to the vehicle.
- Failure to abide by the terms above will make the damage waiver and collision damage waiver void.
- Full instructions will be included in the booking confirmation.
- 24-hour roadside assistance is included with the booking.

If the contract is not signed, the booking will be treated as cancelled, and any payments already made will not be refunded.
