Terms & Conditions – Paphos Car Rental

Scope of Agreement
This Rental Agreement is between the Hirer and CH Car Rental Limited, trading as Paphos Car Rental, a company incorporated in Cyprus with Registration Number HE462479, having its registered office at 10 Kremnou, Paphos 8200, VAT Number: 60085990P. 

Driver Eligibility & Licensing
Only drivers named on the rental agreement are permitted to drive the vehicle. All drivers must:

• Licence held 3+ years; no more than 8 penalty points
• Age must be between 25–75; outside this range requires prior written approval
• Drivers under 25 or 76+ face a flat €1,000 excess with no card pre-authorisation or hold
• If any named driver falls outside 25–75, the €1,000 excess applies to ALL drivers on the booking
• Undisclosed eligibility issues can reduce or void insurance cover, shifting liability to the renter

The Company reserves the right to refuse rentals where eligibility criteria are not met. Where such circumstances exist but were not disclosed at the time of booking, insurance cover may be reduced or declined to the extent permitted by applicable law, and the renter shall remain responsible for all resulting loss, damage, costs, and third-party claims arising during the rental period.

Booking, Payment & Cancellation
Bookings are confirmed by email

• Full payment is required at booking, or a deposit if booking is made more than 14 days in advance
• If any outstanding balance is not paid by the due date, the booking will be automatically cancelled
• The rental contract, including the Terms and Conditions, must be read and signed before the vehicle can be collected. If the contract is not signed, the vehicle will not be provided, and any payments made may be forfeited

Deposits and payments are non-refundable except where (a) the Company cancels the booking, (b) the vehicle cannot be supplied, or (c) a refund is required under applicable law. 

Insurance & Liability
All vehicles are insured under Cyprus law, including:

• Third-party bodily injury cover for passengers up to €38.6 million
• Third-party property damage up to €1.3 million
  

Zero Excess Cover
Applies only to collision and accidental damage, including incidents occurring while the vehicle is parked, and only while fully compliant with the agreement. Full cover is also provided in the event of theft of the rental vehicle or damage caused to the vehicle as a direct result of a break-in or attempted theft. Excluded from cover (renter is liable): 

• Interior and undercarriage damage not caused by a collision
• Lost keys or lock-outs, and associated costs
• Misfuelling and mechanical damage from improper use, negligence, or reckless driving, including driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Tyre damage from debris, potholes, or kerbs and punctures (unless part of a documented collision)
• Driving off-road or on unsuitable terrain, including normal roads affected by rockfall, unpaved roads, dirt tracks, beaches, riverbeds, or any road clearly marked as closed or hazardous
• Use by unauthorised drivers
• Overloading the vehicle
• Continuing to drive after a fault is apparent
• Loss or damage to personal belongings
• Taking the vehicle into Northern Cyprus or outside the Republic of Cyprus — strictly prohibited under any circumstances

The renter is also responsible for any recovery, towing, roadside assistance, loss-of-use, or relocation costs arising from the above situations.

Mechanical breakdown not caused by misuse remains the Company's responsibility. However, if the vehicle becomes undriveable as a result of an at-fault accident, the Company will not be required to provide a replacement vehicle. In such circumstances, no refund or credit will be provided for any unused days remaining on the rental.

Fuel Policy
If you have purchased the €50 fuel option, the car may be returned with minimal fuel remaining. If you have not selected the fuel option, the vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as it had at the time of collection.

Child Seats
Any child seats, booster seats, GPS devices, Wi-Fi units, or other accessories supplied by the Company are provided as a convenience only. The Hirer is solely responsible for ensuring that any child seat or booster seat is correctly fitted, adjusted, and used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable law. The Company accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from the installation or use of such equipment.

All supplied equipment must be returned with the Vehicle in the same condition as provided, fair wear and tear excepted. The Hirer shall be liable for the cost of repairing or replacing any lost, stolen, damaged, or excessively soiled equipment.

Use of Vehicle
The vehicle must be used responsibly and in accordance with the law.

Commercial use (including taxis, deliveries, ride-hailing, or courier services) is not permitted unless authorised in writing. Unlimited mileage is subject to a fair usage limit of 300 km per day average, calculated over the full rental period. Any excess mileage will be charged at €0.20 per kilometre thereafter. The vehicle must be used in a manner consistent with normal private driving. Any use that is excessive, abnormal, or inconsistent with the agreed rental purpose (including but not limited to long-distance commercial-style usage or misuse of the vehicle) may be deemed a breach of this Agreement and may result in additional charges or termination of the rental to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Fines & Charges
The renter is responsible for all traffic violations, fines, and penalties incurred during the rental period.

Cleaning
Additional cleaning charges may apply if the vehicle is returned in an excessively dirty condition including but not limited to sand, stains, spills, odours, or smoking residue. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles. A cleaning charge of €75 will apply where smoking or residue is detected.

Vehicle Return
The Vehicle must be returned at the date, time, and location specified in the Rental Agreement. A grace period of 30 minutes is permitted. If the Vehicle is returned more than 30 minutes late, an additional rental charge equivalent to the applicable daily rental rate will apply for each 24-hour period or part thereof that the Vehicle is overdue.  

Early returns are non-refundable.

Accident Procedure
In the event of an accident, theft, or damage:

• The renter must notify the Company immediately
• A police report must be obtained in the event of an accident, theft, or third-party damage. Failure to do so may result in loss of insurance cover.
• The renter must not admit liability or settle any claim with a third party without the Company's prior written consent.

Failure to comply may invalidate insurance cover and any damage waiver protection, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination
The Company reserves the right to terminate this Agreement immediately in cases of serious breach, including but not limited to non-payment, unsafe driving, illegal use, or damage to the vehicle. Upon termination, the renter must immediately return the vehicle and keys. Early termination by the renter does not entitle them to a refund, except where required by applicable law.

Force Majeure
The Company is not liable for delays or failure caused by events beyond its control.

Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Cyprus courts.

Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
By completing a booking and providing electronic acceptance, the Hirer confirms that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, the Rental Agreement, and all applicable rental charges, fees, and other amounts that may become payable under them. The Hirer further authorises the Company to charge any amounts due under this Agreement, including applicable rental charges, fees, excesses, damages, fines, penalties, and other authorised costs, in accordance with the Rental Agreement and the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.
